Typofonderie’s OpenType revamp

opto.frjournal

I just finished Porchez Typofonderie’s extreme OpenType makeover!
The foundry is now 100% OpenType-fueled! Bye-bye PostScript Type 1 fonts.

That’s indeed a fully technical process. The whole catalog has been converted to OpenType-CFF, thus gaining the “Std” suffix (stands for “Standard”) which is different from the big OT fonts, with the “PTF” suffix.
Those Std fonts are beyond plain format change. They have a more robust behavior in current OT-savvy apps ; and backwards compatibility for older apps will perform better.

Check them out! 127 fonts processed, containing 32142 glyphs and 154400 organic kerns in total. (Yes, I love FontStats! )

Oh, and for the lucky licencees, there may also be a nice “.notdef” Easter Egg in them. ;)
